Blog Post #5:
It all happened so fast. Gatsby and I didn't even see her, and I didn't even want to look to see who it was. I just wanted to keep going, I didn't want to stop, I didn't want to think who it was that I just ran over, I just went fast, as fast as I possibly could go.  I don't even remember if Gatsby was talking to me after the hit, my mind was running all over the place, I couldn't think straight, I couldn't even see straight. Now that I'm home, I need to collect my thoughts. So much happened. Tom is more than aware of my feelings for Gatsby, Gatsby isn't afraid to hide his feelings, but I just don't know. I love Gatsby but I care for Tom deeply. Although, when Tom insulted and screamed at Gatsby, there was apart of me that didn't recognize that man. Something is going to change. Gatsby told me, that he was going to take blame for what happened but that isn't fair. It'll ruin his life, his reputation, everything he worked so hard for. Also, it'll give Tom another reason to hate him, and justify his accusations about Gatsby being a criminal. I don't think I can let Gatsby do that for me. Gatsby always is so quick to protect me, he always defends me no matter what, no matter what I do or say he is there for me. That is why I don't think I can let him take the blame for this.

A. That he was born as James Gatz which he changed when he was seventeen, to Jay Gatsby. He was grew up in West Egg. He dropped out of college after two weeks. He got a job as a fish monger on Lake Superior where he met a man named Dan Cody  who gave him a job as his assistant on his yacht. Which made Gatsby love traveling. Also because Cody was an alcoholic which made Gatsby not want to drink. When he died he left money to Gatsby but because of Cody's mistress Gatsby did not receive it. Gatsby was determined to become a wealthy man on his own accord.
B. The actual details about Gatsby and his background differ completely from the rumors that have been said. The rumors made him out to be a mysterious and devious man who possibly killed a man. When in actuality he was a poor man who grew up normal and worked really hard to get where he is. He was and is a hardworking man who made his status.
C. That he changed his name to Jay Gatsby because he didn't want to remember his past life or the man he use to be. He changed it because he wanted to become a new person. He wanted to be a prosperous, wealthy, respected man. He wanted to choose a name to represent that.  Gatz was a poor man who didn't have much to be proud of  and wasn't that popular. While Gatsby is a wealthy man who has a lot to be proud of  and is widely known.
D.  Tom doesn't like Gatsby at all. He acts like he has something against him. Tom thinks that the fact that Gatsby earned his wealth is something to be looked down upon.  Also Tom is jealous of him and Daisy, because he wants Daisy to himself and thinks that Gatsby isn't worthy for both her and him. Tom also wants Daisy to stop seeing him and seems to not trust Gatsby.

What kind of person is Daisy really? What are her intentions? Where does Nick fit into all of this? What kind of person is Gatsby? The dynamic of the characters and how the amount of money you have decides the type of person you are. So far the characters seem to be very concerned about status. They seem too money driven.  The characters all seem to be kind of mysterious, they seem one-sided so far.
